Initial ideas

Initial ideas:

For our media film which we produces we initially had a few ideas which we played around with until we finally settled on one idea indefinitely and went with that one.
One of the original ideas which we had consisted of a boy walking along the street and then being kidnapped by a mysterious assassin in a car and being forced in, where he would be held at gun/knife-point and questioned about drugs it would have then ended with a hand flopped outside of the car trunk and then a cut to black, although this was a pretty good idea to begin with we decided that it would be better to not go with it as it would be pretty hard to get someone to drive a car that we knew as all of our fathers would be working at the time of the recording and our mothers either looking after siblings or working as well. so we decided not to go with this idea and decided to rethink and come up with others, also the other main reason as to why we didn't decide to do this as it would be awkward to do the whole knife/gun-point without possibly getting into some kind of trouble.

The second idea which we had had come up with was an idea where a group of people would meet up within a park or a back alley and would be there for a deal of some kind with another group of people only for it to go wrong where someone would be killed by a gun or weapon of some kind and both groups would have to try and escape for their live, the main problem for this one was simply the lack of people to do it and we in no way had enough people to do this kind of project and we also had no idea how we would be able to do the murder scene either as we had no idea how we could make it a believable shock for both the groups of people.
Eventually we gave up with both of these ideas and decided to settle on one which would go on to become our actual film and would consist of a kidnapping and a ransom  gone wrong.

Introducing our group

Above is the group that i am going to working with for media, it consists of me (middle), Sam Dell (right) and Destiny Ogbeide (left), originally we were part of a bigger group with two more people that are not shown in the picture and we are going to still be working with and helping them with their film however we do have to focus on our own and get ours done as well and it is us three that are going to be working together throughout the coursework.

3rd production meeting

Our third production meeting was very productive as this was the one where we had to decide what we actually wanted to re-shoot and what we thought could stay in the film so this was the one where we had to actually go over what was good throughout the whole film and what was bad and we also had to go over what editing was good or bad as well so we had to decide during this meeting what was going to be the whole outcome of the film and what was staying/going.

So this meeting had taken place after the first draft had been completed and uploaded and was basically us reviewing everything and going back over it, we decided that in the end we had to reshoot the scenes outside, the scenes with Azimul and had to redo the scenes where Destiny was at the table taking the phone call and we had also decided that we would wait and do it a little bit earlier due to the fact that a lot of the footage was unseeable and had to be redone during daylight.

^ This had to be redone as this was basically all we could se for half of the film.

Preliminary task

Preliminary task

For our groups preliminary task we decided to make a short film based around drug dealing and being discovered by the undercover police as it was a thriller movie opening which we had to be working on in the end we thought that this would fit in nicely with the rest of it, the opening shot after the title uses a match on action transition not once but twice, during the first one we also include a fade as sam is seen going around the corner, the match on action itself is sam going around the corner and changing camera shots so that we get a different point of view on the scene while the action is still being performed.
We left out all of the dialogue between the characters as we had decided that it would be better to not use it mainly for the fact that we did not have a dead cat and there was a lot of wind interference during the recording of it so we decided to go without and actual audio from the scenes and just decided to edit any audio in which we would need such as music or sound effects. There are many numerous things which we can work on and improve when working on  our later projects such as making sure we have a working microphone, looking at the weather before we go out to film during that day and we could also make things a bit more dynamic and could have added a bit more action or at least made it a bit more interesting by adding something a little bit more fast paced.

Match on action:
The match on action that we used was showing sam going around the in one continuos motion while switching camera shots, we did the same shortly afterwards while doing a match on action with Azimul as well, i believe that both match on actions were done well and look really nice with the editing together to make sure that it one continuos motion with no flaws i and no jolts within the motions.

Eye-line match:
The eye-line match that we did was during the scene where James looks past the camera and then it switches to the shot of destiny peeking over the wall, this is pretty well done as it begins with James looking at something off screen which the audience cannot see to begin with, but then the next shot is showing what the initial person was looking at.

Location (media)

Location- Illuminate

In our Media film 'Illuminate', the location that we chose is my (Sam's) house (Picture 2). To be more specific, the setting of most of the film will be in the outside shed (Picture 1), but due to a lack of Google maps skill, the picture that was taken was the best that could be taken. The living room of my house is also a location where the film takes place, and features in it. There is also a number of scenes that takes place in 'sibling's room', which is just another location in the house that is not referred to being in the house, and is supposed to be in a different house.

production meeting 2 (finished)

Production meeting 2

this is our second production meeting once we had split up into our two separate groups, we immediately began to work on thinking up ideas for our own separate movie even if the other two from the original group were going to also star in it we had to think up our own separate idea and own movie, we discussed the different types of shots that are going to be involved, what the plot-line for the story is and we also discussed the setting and any possible props which we were going to use.

First production meeting (finished)

First production meeting:

For our first meeting we had discussed between our group what it was that we were going to do for the media clips, the group consists of me,sam,James, destiny and azimul. we had decided that we had to do two different mini movies when it comes to filming them as we had too many people to just produce one.
we have decided that group one will be destiny, sam and me while group two will be James and azimul while we will be all working together with one another.
our group has decided to produce a film in which the basic premise is where someone will be captured and held for ransom by a psychopath/serial killer, The movie is going to be called "illuminate" and the setting is going to either in an abandoned kind of hut which we had found over central park or we are going to see if anybody has a empty shed in which we can use,
